Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Criticizes BJP for Welcoming Gali Janardhan Reddy

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra recently criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for welcoming former minister and MLA Gali Janardhan Reddy back into the party. In a social media post, she highlighted Reddy’s alleged involvement in a ₹35,000 crore scam and pointed out that he faces multiple cases, including nine from the CBI, related to corruption, forest destruction, and attempts to influence legal proceedings.

Vadra lashed out at Prime Minister Modi and the BJP, accusing them of selectively embracing corrupt individuals and using agencies to target opposition leaders while shielding their own allies. She also mentioned Praful Patel, referring to media reports suggesting the closure of a case against a Maharashtra leader who recently joined the BJP.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai expressed optimism about Reddy’s return, citing his influence in North Karnataka. Reddy, who was previously associated with the BJP until his legal troubles, formed his own party in 2022 but later rejoined the BJP.

The political dynamics in Karnataka, with 28 Lok Sabha seats up for grabs, are crucial, especially considering the BJP’s dominant performance in the 2019 elections despite a coalition between the Congress and JDS. The upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in 2024 will be conducted in seven phases, starting from April 19, with results announced on June 4.
